Three affected persons of human trafficking have taken part in 2 Workshops, which were organised by EXIT and described their current life situation, as well as their restriction by the victim protection law. Their statements serve as a basis for the following 3 videoclips.
“In June, 2009 I was attacked by my human trader in broad daylight. Fortunately, passers-by alerted the rescue and the police. I pressed charges against my slave trader, but they´ve been dropped shortly after. Nontheless, I won´t surrender, I´ll keep on defnding myself against the wrong, that has been done to me, against forced prostitution, false promises and my alleged “depts” in the amount of 50 000 euros, as required by the traider. It´s enough, I won´t let my future be taken away from me. Not only have I pressed charges, but I also addressed the public with the issue that is human trafficking, learned german and built myself a social network in Vienna. Furthermore, I´ve ever since advised other victims of human trafficking to reach out to austrian authorities. Despite all my actions, i´m still facing deportation.”
CASE Y “MANY YEARS’ ODYSSEY TROUGH THE DESERT, PAID 80,000 EUR TO HUMAN TRADER, SUFFERED MASSIVE ABUSE; REQUESTED HELP; BUT WAS DEPORTED ANYWAY.”
“Working as a prostitute on the street is very dangerous. If you don´t make enough money, you´re not allowed to go home. My madam hit me, and even threatened my family. After I already paid off 80 000 euros, she just wanted more. But I just couldn´t do it anymore, I had hit rock bottom. So I decided to turn to austrian authorities and to give a testimony against my trader. I´ve learnt german, visited courses, tried to integrate myself in Austria, nevertheless, I was deported.”
CASE Z “FLEES WITH CHILD TO AUSTRIA, IN ORDER TO ESCAPE FROM HER TRADER AND AFTER ALL SHE ENDURED, STILL HAS TO FEAR DEPORTATION.”
“I was underage, when I came to Europe. Years passed and I was still working on the streets, after I´ve been forced into prostitution and therefore exploited by my madam. Then I got pregnant and knew that I had to leave. I fled to Austria and gave my testimony to the authorities. By now my child goes to kindergarten, and it´s still uncertain, if we´re allowed to stay in Austria. All I want is freedom, work and a safe home for me and my child.
